First Influenster Box - Kate Somerville Review

Ahhh, can I just say how exciting it is to get picked for an Influenster Box?

Alright, I was lucky enough to get gifted this Kate Somerville Vox Box for my very first experience along with another 1000 participants. To be completely honest, prior to receiving the box, I had never once heard of Kate Somerville (pretty embarrassing for somebody who works in the skincare industry) but hey, new things are coming out all the time.

Considering I spend countless hours stalking other great brands out there, I was excited to be introduced to a whole new line. Can I just say, when my box arrived and I opened it, I was SHOCKED.

I have no clue what I was expecting but I did not expect to receive a full size anything. As soon as I opened my box, I googled the price of these products and I had to crawl around my room in order to pick up my jaw from the floor.

So what’s in the box?

  • 1 travel size (0.5oz) ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment by Kate Somerville

  • 1 travel size ExfoliKate Cleanser Daily Foaming Wash by Kate Somerville

  • 1 full size (1.7oz) ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer

Jeezus this packaging is so damn divine oh weeeee. To be honest, it reminded me of Glossier’s packaging with the smiley/winky face being stamped on the packaging.

Now, the products are meant to be used in conjunction with one another and I can see why. You first wash your face with their foaming wash, followed by the exfoliating treatment, and cap it all off with the moisturizer.

ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer

Straight from their site, this is how the moisturizer is described:

A duo of AHAs – Glycolic and Lactic Acids – combined with Pineapple, Pumpkin and Papaya Enzymes instantly reduce the appearance of surface dullness and uneven skin texture to reveal beautiful, glowing skin.

My favorite part has got to be the mint color. The actual moisturizer is quite thick, in fact, it’s a little too much for my skin (combo) and while extremely hydrating, I did feel a little greasy afterwards. It smells divine (citrusy) and I can’t wait to use it in the winter when my skin is truly lacking moisture.

Cleanser Daily Foaming Wash

A daily foaming cleanser that gently cleanses away oil, makeup and surface impurities to reveal softer, smoother skin. It also claims to reduce the appearance of pores.

Again, I adore the light green color but it was like any other cleanser I have used. It doesn’t leave your face feeling dry which I appreciated and it does leave your skin feeling baby smooth. My face tends to have a lot of bumps and large pores so it was great seeing these tighten up and smooth out.

ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment

Exfoliating scrub exfoliates and polishes skin, revealing a smooth, healthy-looking, glowing complexion. Dramatically smooths skin with both physical and chemical exfoliation. Improves the appearance of skin texture and pores. Improves the appearance of crow’s feet, fine line and wrinkles.

HOLY SMOKES SOMEBODY HOLD ME. This treatment will officially become my new holy grail. There is a reason it has been dubbed as Hollywood’s 2-minute facial, they aren’t wrong!

My skin is pretty dull on most days and I look dead without some type of CC cream or foundation on. I was intrigued as to what a “facial” could do for me and was excited to give this a shot. After cleansing with the foaming wash, I followed instruction and put a small amount on my wet face.

The texture of this is thick, creamy and has Silica in it which feels like sand rubbing on your face when you apply it (in a good way I swear). The instructions say to put a thin layer all over your face and rub it in small circles (this is where the exfoliating comes in) for 30 seconds and then let it sit for no more than 2 minutes (less if you have sensitive skin).

Was I expecting something? Maybe. But nothing prepared me for the results.

First, my skin tingled upon letting it sit for a bit, nothing too crazy but keep this in mind. No burning, no itching, just a mild tingle that let me know it was doing its magic. Upon rinsing however, I felt as if all the dead skin was just wiped off my face in an instant.

My pores (which are normally massive) were reduced to tiny little things. My face felt like a baby’s bottom and not that is not an exaggeration. I was glowing, actually radiant and could not believe it.

Immediately afterwards, I researched the price for one of these babies and crap it’s $85 for 2 oz. At Sephora, they sell the travel/sample size that I have for $24 but if you’re gonna splurge I say go big. If you are just rolling in dough, then you should purchase the 5oz for $175. This baby is 110% worth it and now I need to start saving up.

Key ingredients in all of these products are the three P’s as they advertise: Papaya, Pineapple and Pumpkin. The treatment also has lactic acid, vitamins a, c, and e, salicylic acid, and soy lipid.

Overall, I was stunned and over the moon with this box and the each of the products. With these new puppies in tow, I just may make my shift over to becoming skincare obsessed. Either way, I’d recommend moosing on over to your local Sephora and giving the treatment a try at the very least. You’ll never go back afterwards. Pinky promise.
